Senior Activity Centers
Meals on Wheels operates five senior activity centers located throughout the County. Our senior activity centers offer a warm, welcoming "home away from home" to hundreds of Rockland residents. Participants develop important friendships and enjoy many activities together with a particular focus on health and wellness. The Senior Activity Centers, along with all of our services, are part of a greater continuum of care that enable older adults to remain as independent as possible and living in their own homes.
Located in Nanuet, New City, Sparkill, Nyack and West Haverstraw, our Senior Activity Centers offer a warm, welcoming, "home away from home" to over 500 members. Senior Activity Centers provide transportation and a nutritious lunch that is prepared by our commissary and can accommodate kosher dietary needs.
A member must be a resident of Rockland County and be at least 60 years old or in the company of an eligible spouse.
Hours and Fees
Senior Activity Centers are open Monday through Friday generally from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Centers are closed on holidays and days when weather is inclement, such as "snow days."
There is no fee to participate, and no one is denied access based on economic limitations. The agency does, however, ask for suggested donations of $4.00 per day for participants who eat the provided lunch and of $2.00 per day for those requiring transportation.
