Meals on Wheels Rockland

In-Kind Gifts

Gifts or goods or services, known as "in-kind" gifts, are very much appreciated by the agency. Some examples of how the agency uses these type of gifts are listed below.

Blizzard Boxes

This emergency shelf-stable food program helps ensure that the agency's homebound recipients have a sufficient supply of non-perishable food items in case of a weather related or other type of emergency. The agency's preference is for the donation of complete "Blizzard Boxes," but donations of non-perishables food items by themselves are also gratefully accepted. Please click below for instructions on assembling the boxes.

Assembling Blizzard Boxes is a wonderful community service project for families, boy scout, girl scout, school, or other groups. Including a brief note, poem or drawing adds a special touch and makes the boxes even more special. Boxes are accepted during regular business hours at our main office at 121 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY.

Turkeys During the Holiday Season

Meals on Wheels will gratefully accept donations of frozen turkeys in November and December each year. The turkeys will be used to prepare holiday meals for hundreds of home bound seniors. Turkeys can be dropped off at our 121 West Nyack Road office Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during the aforementioned months.

Matzah at Passover

The agency will happily accept donations of boxes of matzah at Passover. Please drop off any donations during business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) at our main office at 121 West Nyack Road in Nanuet.

New or gently used small items such as books, craft supplies, and games for adults are welcome in limited quantities. Please call our office at 845-624-6325 first to see if we can accept the donation.

If you have a larger item such as a television or furniture that you are interested in donating, the agency may also be able to accept it, but please call our office at 845-624-6325 first to see if it is something the agency can use. We may be able to pick up larger items.
