  • Hundreds of dedicated volunteers deliver meals to individuals who are homebound, provide general assistance in Senior Centers and in the Adult Daycare Centers, participate in the Music Makers, work at special events and help our staff with day to day activities as well as teach, coach and administer the Senior Net @ Rockland program. All programs rely on the support of invaluable volunteers.

  • How you can help…

    • Homebound Meal Delivery Volunteers - assist by delivering meals to frail, elderly and lonely homebound individuals for one hour, once a week. Deliveries are made Monday through Friday at approximately 11:00AM. Volunteers can also deliver on less frequent basis such as on holidays only. Individuals or families are welcome to participate. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and provide their own transportation.

    • Commissary Volunteers - assist with meal preparation of about 1500 meals per day at our Nanuet commissary Monday through Friday between 7:30AM and 10:00AM. Volunteer any day or everyday. Volunteers can gain useful job skills while helping neighbors in their community. Volunteers must be over the age of 12.

    • Senior Center Volunteers - provide center participants with musical entertainment, educational programs, arts and crafts projects, manicures, or assist with board games, card games and serving lunch. Volunteers are needed during shifts Monday through Friday between 10:00AM and 1:30PM.

    • Adult Daycare Center Volunteers - assist with many of the same tasks as in the Senior Centers with programs geared to enhance the cognitive and physical skills of participants who are frailer than those in the Senior Centers. Volunteers are needed at Adult Daycare centers during shifts Monday through Friday between 10:00AM and 3:00PM.

    • SeniorNet @ Rockland Volunteers - volunteers instruct and coach computer classes taught to adults ages 50 and over. Volunteers also assist with administrative tasks, serve on committees to design the curriculum, the website and to develop long range planning.

    • Administrative Volunteers - help with many critical tasks that are essential to the agency such as assembling brochures, sorting newsletters, preparing mailings, counting coin donations and many other administrative tasks. Help is also needed covering our multi-line phone system between the hours of 12:30-1:30PM only on weekdays.

    • Coin Box Volunteers - Meals on Wheels partners with many local businesses to display coin boxes for patrons to donate coins to help support the agency's programs and services. Volunteers are needed to identify, place, and frequently monitor coin boxes, replace full boxes as needed and return collected coins to our Nanuet facility.

    • Music Makers - volunteers are part of an older adult singing troupe which performs musical reviews and bring cheer to various groups in Rockland County.

  • To volunteer or for more information please contact the Supervisor of the Volunteer Program at (845) 624-6325 or via email at volunteer@mowrockland.org.
