- SeniorNet Learning Center of Nanuet, Rockland offers computer training to adults of all ages (priority is given to those 50 and over). Classes are taught in our Nanuet Learning Center, located at Meals on Wheels of Rockland, 121 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, New York .
- A goal of SeniorNet is to encourage lifelong learning, progressing along a pathway from computer literacy to fluency.
- The learning center is administered by volunteers who provide peer-to-peer hands-on instruction. Each class has an instructor, coaches and is limited to eight students.
- The tuition fee for each course is $65, except the Basic Skills which is $20.

- Core courses offered are…
- Basic Skills - is offered prior to taking Introduction to Computers for those lacking the basic skills. The fee for this course is $20.
- Introduction to Computers - Using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Works students learn fundamental and transferable skills applicable to word processing, spreadsheets and database operations. Topics covered include managing files using Windows Explorer, an introduction to browsing the Internet and using e-mail.
- Exploring Windows XP - course covers basic Windows procedures, including organizing files, opening files and launching programs and how to create new folders. The course also includes modifying your desktop, your task bar and your start menu. Students will learn how to add new icons to the desktop, and how to maintain the health of your system.
- Exploring the Internet - Students learn the basic Internet skills including an overview of how the Internet works and how to send and receive e-mail messages and attachments. You will be taught how to navigate the Web, search for information, participate in online chat sessions and use instant messaging.
- Specialized courses offered are:
- Word Processing - Students use Microsoft Word to hone their word processing skills. The course addresses how to type and edit simple documents, setting margins and tabs, working with tables, columns, headers footers and mail merge. Students also learn to format paragraphs, insert clipart, and create bulleted or numbered lists and how to print documents.
- Genealogy - Students, using Family Tree Maker, learn how to install genealogy software and how to start a family file. Students gain experience entering information, showing relationships, adding pictures and sound, printing reports and creating GEDCOM files. You will be taught how to conduct online searches of standard genealogy data sources.
- Introduction to Quicken - Students are taught how to use Quicken, a financial program that makes it easy to see your overall financial health. It allows students to see where they stand financially and put a plan in place to get where they want to go. Students learn how to set up accounts and categories and to manage their checking, savings, credit card and investment accounts. The course includes instruction on setting up a budget and creating reports and graphs as well as an introduction to Quicken on the Internet.
- Digital Image Manipulation - Students are taught an understanding of digital images and their sources. The course covers how to take images from a camera, a scanner, the Internet or a CD and modify or enhance them using a personal computer. Students will be able to print pictures using an ink jet printer, incorporate them into letters or reports or use them in e-mail or on greeting cards.
