Tragic Loss of Volunteer Driver Jami Erlich
The Staff, Board, Volunteers and Participants of Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of volunteer driver Jami Erlich. Volunteers such as Jami are integral to the agency's ability to serve hundreds of meals every day to seniors and others in need. We are honored and touched that Jami's family has chosen Meals on Wheels as one of the community agencies that memorial contributions are being directed.

As of January 2010, over $1800 in tax-deductible donations have been made to Meals on Wheels in Jami's memory.

The 2nd Annual Thanksgiving Walk Raises Close to $11,000!
The 2009 Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving Walk was held at Rockland Lake State Park on Sunday, November 15th. The weather was beautiful and much fun was had by all participants! 11 year old Noah Parks was first to cross the finish line, earning himself a trophy and lots of smiles.

We offer many thanks to the following sponsor and in-kind donors:

Wyeth Pharmaceutical, Grand Sponsor
Inter County Alarm Systems
Performance Food Group
Sani-Hands
Starbucks Coffee Company

We also thank our walkers, donors, and fund raisers. The following individuals raised the most:

Madelyn Schiering $2,074
Lynn Jacobs $845
Linda Zugibe $530
Barbara Rein $295

Thanksgiving Walk funds raised benefit the Homebound meal Delivery Program and will help our seniors have a bountiful Thanksgiving!

Fall is Employee Giving Campaign Season!
It’s easy to give at work with workplace giving programs.

Meals on Wheels Celebrates 8 Millionth Meal Delivery!
Meals on Wheels Programs and Services of Rockland is extremely pleased to announce that the agency delivered its 8 millionth meal to Joseph Conance of West Nyack on Tuesday, July 7. Amid a great deal of fanfare, C. Scott Vanderhoef, County Executive and Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffe delivered the meal in a vintage 1930 Model T Ford, generously donated for use at the event by Mr. John Olori. Prior to the delivery, a festive reception was attended by over 75 volunteers, trustees, staff and community members at the Agency’s headquarters.

Barbara Kohlhausen, President and CEO, said, “Our 8 millionth meal is symbolic of our commitment to the homebound people of Rockland, that no person should go hungry because of illness, physical handicap or advanced age and who cannot shop or cook for themselves.”
